A wide range of organizations take advantage of on-campus interviewing to select and hire student talent. Many employers schedule interviews in the days immediately following the Business Career Fair, utlizing rooms and spaces set aside by Career Connections.
Advanced Planning
Successful campus interviews stem from attention to detail and considerable advanced planning. Hiring managers coordinate with our staff to choose the number of interviews conducted, and the amount of time allotted for students.
How to Schedule Interviews
Request an on-campus interview by logging into Handshake. Or first, sign up as an employer. After logging in, select “Request a date for on-campus interviews” to begin the process.
Facilities at Walton College
The George W. Edwards, Jr. Interview Suite is available in Walton Career Connections to conduct your on-campus Interviews. We are here to assist you in planning and coordinating your on-campus interview needs.
All interview requests will primarily be scheduled through Handshake. Although our interview suite is limited, we have the capability to schedule additional rooms, when available, in our business quad. Our business hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm so we recommend interviews to be scheduled from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Accommodations can be made for schedules that need to extend beyond these times.
Interview Seasons
Interview seasons in Walton Career Connections are typically:
- Fall: September – November
- Spring: February – April
Schedule Types
Interview schedule types that are available:
Preselect
This schedule allows you to specify an application period and a slot signup period. Primary and alternate candidates are selected after the application period closes. You must attach a job or internship post to this type. There is flexibility in schedule set up with room and job assignments. This is the most popular interview schedule.
Room Only
A room or rooms can be reserved; however, slots will be managed outside of Handshake. Be aware, students selected for this type of interview schedule will not be able to take slots. Attaching a job or internship post is not necessary. This schedule type works best with outside scheduling software (i.e. Yello.co), career fair interview scheduling, or if you prefer to manage your interview schedule.
Open
An open schedule allows you to specify an application period where students who meet the job or internship qualifications (set on the preferences page/tab of your job or internship post) will be able to take a slot immediately after applying.
Virtual
Virtual interviews can be scheduled using any one of the schedule types listed above. Be sure to note this in the interview schedule description section of the basics tab. For individual virtual interviews, our students can schedule an interview room based on availability.
Please note regardless of the schedule type you select, you should be sure to complete the application process with our students. This allows students to know where they stand in the interview process and does not leave them feeling “ghosted’ in their job or internship search. Day After Interviews (DAI) – Business Career Fairs
Many employers choose to interview students the day after the fair. Due to limited spaces, we use a combination of private and pipe & drape spaces. Interview spaces are reserved on a first-come first-served basis. A complimentary lunch will be provided to all interviewers. Spaces are $100/space and companies can reserve up to 2 spaces. Career Connections sponsors can receive up to two complimentary interview spaces if requested.
- Space Reservation should requested with Business Career Fair Registration.
- Space Reservation Limit – 2 interview spaces.
- Space is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis for non-Walton Career Connections sponsors.
- Reservation cancellation or no show-space reservations may be cancelled in writing via email before career fair registration due date for each career fair without penalty.
- No refunds will be made if cancelled beyond the career fair registration due date.
